James Marshall to head the connectivity team to deliver and maintain a quality service from DPI.
London, 27 July 2023 – Datalec Precision Installations (DPI), is a provider of world-class data centre design, supply, build and managed services to deliver seamless and integrated end-to-end solutions for data centre operators, and is pleased to announce the appointment of James Marshall as Head of Connectivity. James joined Datalec in 2019 and has over 24 years of industry experience, with past projects including the Olympic site in the Lee Valley White Water Centre and a two-year upgrade at the historic London Kings Cross Railway Station.
With this appointment, Datalec has doubled down, restructuring and expanding its Connectivity team to deliver and maintain the high quality of service that it is recognised for within the industry. As head of the enhanced Connectivity team, James will leverage the company’s highly experienced, fully qualified and certified designers, field technicians and project management employees to provide clients with the assurance that all projects will be delivered in accordance with its exacting standards. A recent joiner to this expanding team includes a dedicated senior project manager in Ireland, David Dempsey, with further announcements in other countries planned for the near future.
The accomplishments and design skills of the Connectivity team is industry recognised, having won the DCS Awards in 2022. The management of this team has a combined experience of over 100 years, and they are supported by a growing team of Project Supervisors and Data Technicians (UK based employees, plus a developing pool of in-country talent to support overseas projects). With far reaching depth and breadth, the Connectivity team has worked in 10 countries during the last 12 months.
According to James Marshall, Head of Connectivity “Whether it’s cable inventories and audits, the testing and certification of structured cabling networks, voice and data communications equipment, a data migration or a completely new build data centre, my team fully understands that what our clients want most of all – apart from excellence and value – is peace of mind, which is what we give them with our in-depth project delivery process. Our rigorous approach ensures that solutions are implemented the first time, every time and I am honoured to head up this team.”
The Datalec Connectivity team sets itself apart by:
- Utilising its off-site pre-term facility, allowing it to manage quality more efficiently and resources in a controlled environment. Additionally, a pre-termination solution provides further benefits by reducing installation time, reliance on larger pools of resources, which in turn contributes towards mitigating considerations when managing on-site health and safety. Other benefits from its pre-termination facility offer the opportunity to manage waste and CO2 emissions. Datalec can segregate waste packaging and where practical repurpose the packaging for onward use.
- Its connectivity Testing fleet is owned and maintained, serviced and certified yearly by manufacturer recognised companies.
- Its thorough technical understanding from design to engineers.
- Its investment in training. Whether CNCI Technicians, CNIDP Designers or CDCDP qualified, the Connectivity team keeps up to date with the latest technology training (such as ribbon fibres to immersive cooling) to maintain its position as leaders in the field.
