Job Purpose

We are seeking a Site Health & Safety Manager to join our team. This role will lead all health, safety, and environmental (HSE) activities on data centre construction/installation projects in the region.

The role ensures full compliance with local and EU HSE legislation, client requirements, and DPI’s internal standards while promoting a strong, proactive safety culture across site teams and contractors.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide visible, proactive leadership on-site, championing safety-first behaviours.
  • Promote DPI’s safety philosophy: “Health is our Mission, Safety is Critical.”
  • Act as the primary HSE point of contact for site teams, subcontractors, and clients.
  • Ensure compliance with:
    • Local HSE legislation
    • EU directives and client HSE standards
  • Implement and enforce DPI HSE policies, procedures, and safe systems of work.
  • Conduct site audits and inspections to ensure adherence to standards.
  • Lead hazard identification, risk assessments, and mitigation planning.
  • Review and approve contractor documentation, including:
    • RAMS (Risk Assessments & Method Statements)
  • Monitor high-risk activities (e.g., MEP installations, working at height, electrical works).
  • Ensure all contractors comply with DPI and project-specific HSE requirements.
  • Monitor contractor performance and intervene where standards fall short.
  • Drive continuous improvement within the supply chain.
  • Deliver:
    • Site inductions
    • Toolbox talks
    • Safety briefings
  • Promote workforce engagement to foster a positive safety culture.
  • Ensure all staff certifications and training records are up to date.
  • Lead and/or support investigation of:
    • Accidents
    • Near misses
    • Unsafe conditions
  • Implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Maintain accurate reporting and documentation.
  • Track KPIs and safety performance metrics.
  • Drive improvements in systems, behaviours, and processes.
  • Share best practices across DPI’s EMEA projects.
  • Support development and testing of site emergency response plans.
  • Ensure readiness for fire, evacuation, and incident scenarios.
  • Represent the business, upholding our core values and behaviours with all internal and external customers, clients and third parties.
  • Maintain business and client confidentiality, adhering to applicable Data Protection regulations and Information Security Standards in line with company and group policies and procedures.

 Essential Skills and Experience

  • NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent).
  • Relevant local HSE certification, preferred.
  • ISO 45001 knowledge or auditing experience advantageous.
  • Significant experience in construction or data centre HSE roles (site-based).
  • Experience working on large-scale mission-critical or infrastructure projects desirable.
  • Proven track record in managing subcontractors and multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Excellent understanding of risk management and safe systems of work.
  • Ability to influence and drive behavioural change.
  • Strong reporting, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Fluent English required; German highly desirable.
  • Willingness to work on-site in the region (and potentially travel across EMEA).
