Electrical Construction Manager – Data Centres

Location: Jakarta, Indonesia

Job Purpose

The Electrical Construction Manager is responsible for leading, coordinating, and managing all electrical construction activities associated with the delivery of mission-critical data centre projects. The role ensures electrical systems are installed safely, to the highest quality standards, within budget, and in accordance with project schedules and client requirements.

The successful candidate will provide leadership to site teams, manage electrical subcontractors, oversee installation and commissioning activities, and ensure successful project delivery from construction through to client handover.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage the full electrical construction scope for data centre projects.
  • Oversee installation of critical electrical infrastructure, including:
    • High Voltage (HV) and Medium Voltage (MV) systems
    • Low Voltage (LV) distribution systems
    • UPS systems
    • Generators and associated fuel systems
    • Switchgear and transformers
    • Busbar systems
    • Power Distribution Units (PDUs)
    • Earthing and lightning protection systems
    • Data and structured cabling infrastructure
    • Lighting and small power installations
  • Ensure electrical works are delivered safely and in line with project programmes.
  • Coordinate electrical works with mechanical, civil and architectural disciplines.
  • Monitor project progress and implement corrective actions where required.
  • Drive project milestones and successful completion of critical path activities.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture across all project activities.
  • Ensure compliance with all company, client and statutory HSE requirements.
  • Review and approve RAMS (Risk Assessments and Method Statements).
  • Conduct site inspections, audits and safety reviews.
  • Lead toolbox talks and safety briefings.
  • Investigate incidents and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
  • Participate in design reviews and constructability assessments.
  • Review technical drawings, specifications, and electrical schematics.
  • Coordinate procurement and delivery schedules for electrical equipment and materials.
  • Manage interfaces between electrical systems and other building disciplines.
  • Attend and lead coordination meetings with contractors, consultants and clients.
  • Assist with programme development and short-term planning activities.
  • Ensure all electrical installations comply with project specifications, industry standards and client requirements.
  • Implement project quality management plans.
  • Manage inspection and test plans (ITPs).
  • Coordinate inspections, testing and quality audits.
  • Ensure quality documentation and records are maintained.
  • Resolve technical and quality issues in collaboration with design and commissioning teams.
  • Support project cost control and budget management.
  • Monitor subcontractor performance and productivity.
  • Assist in evaluating variations, claims and change orders.
  • Review labour requirements and resource allocations.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
  • Support electrical pre-commissioning, energisation and commissioning activities.
  • Coordinate testing procedures including:
    • FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing)
    • SAT (Site Acceptance Testing)
    • Electrical system verification
    • Integrated Systems Testing (IST)
  • Ensure systems are handed over in accordance with project requirements.
  • Manage completion and submission of commissioning documentation.
  • Support client training and operational readiness activities.
  • Serve as the primary electrical construction lead on site.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants and subcontractors.
  • Provide regular progress reports to senior management and project stakeholders.
  • Attend project reviews and client meetings.
  • Escalate project risks and issues with proposed mitigation strategies.
  • Represent the business, upholding our core values and behaviours with all internal and external customers, clients and third parties.
  • Maintain business and client confidentiality, adhering to applicable Data Protection regulations and Information Security Standards in line with company and group policies and procedures.

 Essential Skills and Experience

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
  • SMSTS certification.
  • CSCS Management Card.
  • First Aid certification.
  • Relevant electrical qualifications and certifications.
  • IOSH Managing Safely or NEBOSH qualification is desirable.
  • Proven experience in electrical construction management.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering large-scale data centre projects.
  • Experience with data centres’ white and grey spaces (at least one)
  • Strong background in mission-critical environments.
  • Experience managing major electrical subcontractors and site teams.
  • Proven track record of delivering projects safely, on time and within budget.
  • Experience with commissioning and energisation of critical electrical systems.
