Mechanical Supervisor

Location: Batam, Indonesia

Job Purpose

We are seeking a Mechanical Supervisor to oversee the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of mechanical systems within high-performance data centre environments. This role requires a hands-on leader with strong technical expertise, trade qualifications, and a proactive approach to managing teams and subcontractors. Experience with liquid cooling technologies is highly desirable.

Duties & Responsibilities 

  • Supervise and coordinate mechanical installation activities across multiple project sites, ensuring work is completed safely, on time, and to specification.
  • Lead and mentor mechanical teams, ensuring high standards of workmanship and compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
  • Interpret mechanical drawings and specifications, providing guidance and resolving technical issues during installation and commissioning phases.
  • Monitor and enforce health and safety standards by conducting regular site inspections and toolbox talks.
  • Liaise with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure seamless integration of mechanical systems with other disciplines.
  • Oversee the installation and testing of HVAC, chilled water systems, and other mechanical infrastructure, with a focus on liquid cooling solutions where applicable.
  • Maintain accurate records of work progress, inspections, and quality assurance documentation.
  • Support procurement and logistics teams in managing mechanical materials and equipment deliveries.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of mechanical commissioning plans and procedures.
  • Identify and escalate risks or issues that may impact project delivery or system performance.
  • Represent the business, upholding our core values and behaviours with all internal and external customers, clients and third parties.
  • Maintain business and client confidentiality, adhering to applicable Data Protection regulations and Information Security Standards in line with company and group policies and procedures.

Essential Skills and Knowledge

  • Recognised trade qualifications in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Relevant certifications in mechanical systems, HVAC, or building services.
  • Proven experience supervising mechanical works in data centre environments or similar high-specification infrastructure projects.
  • Desirable knowledge and hands-on experience with liquid cooling technologies, including rear door heat exchangers, immersion cooling, or direct-to-chip cooling.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical safety standards and regulatory compliance.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to manage teams and subcontractors effectively.
  • Proficient in project management and reporting tools.
  • Flexibility to travel and work across multiple project sites as required.
