Consultancy services
Providing Mission Critical Project Management under consultancy terms and defined liabilities.
We integrate ourselves within our client teams to understand their vision and needs, which in turn allows us to manage the project more effectively by deploying the most appropriate project controls and strategies. Our technical expertise and proactive approach to risk management are cornerstones of our project control mechanisms. We tailor these as required, as each project is unique with its own set of challenges and opportunities.
Project Management
Designed as a highly integrated organisation, DPI Consult services derive significant competitive advantage from direct access and support from our industry-leading data centre delivery divisions.
Portfolio Management
We possess real-time knowledge of industry trends and challenges, supply-chain dynamics and world-class construction practices. This sets our service offering apart by allowing our professionals a level of data centre awareness that is second-to-none.
Construction Management and Monitoring
DPI acts as the client’s representative, ensuring that all construction activities align with the design, schedule, quality, safety, and cost expectations of a mission-critical data centre project.
We will lead coordination between contractors, design teams, vendors, and internal stakeholders from site mobilisation through commissioning and to successful handover.
Key Objectives of Construction Monitoring:
- Quality Assurance: ensure that materials, workmanship, and methods meet the required standards.
- Schedule Tracking: monitor progress to ensure the project is on time.
- Budget Oversight: track costs to prevent overruns and detect financial issues.
- Compliance: verify adherence to building contract, codes, safety regulations, permits, and environmental standards.
- Risk Management: identify and address potential problems before they escalate.
Typical Activities in Construction Monitoring:
- Regular site visits and inspections.
- Review of construction schedules, work logs, and reports.
- Verification of materials and installation against design documents.
- Coordination with contractors, architects, and engineers.
- Documentation of progress, issues, and resolutions.
- Reporting to stakeholders or lenders (especially in lender’s construction monitoring role).
Client-side Technical Project Management
Put quite simply, this service wraps up many of our key services and advantages into a single point of contact to work with the client or project management team.
This is sometimes referred to as the Owners Representative, but we expand on that, bringing highly motivated and experienced people to become the “Voice of the project” seamlessly communicating up and downstream with solutions, direction and clarity.
Risk Analysis Management and Mitigation
As part of our technical contract administration offering, we deploy this service as required and deemed necessary once the risks have been identified. We will then grade risks in order of severity and work with all stakeholders to form the mitigation action plan and strategic schedule.
We will then own the plan and strategy, communicating upstream to keep our client’s appraised on the progress and status of the diminishing risks.
Strategic Project Advisory
We have deployed this service successfully on numerous occasions, where a client’s project team is already in place and an independent, third party, opinion is required. We will use our experience to listen to the issues dividing the team and bring clarity to the situation.
Technical Contract Administration
In our recent experience we have found that the contracts between COLO providers and hyperscale end users have been predicated on highly detailed and technical clauses. We provide a solution for this in our contract administration services. This involves a detailed review of the end user contract versus the build specification, we then form the gap analysis and risk table to inform our COLO client of the steps required to close out the project in compliance with the contract.
This can be a crucial element in the successful delivery of a large campus facility as quite often the end user will use any non-compliance to avoid accepting handover or as a mechanism to claim a breach of contract.
