Datalec Precision Installations (DPI) is a leading provider of data centre design, supply, build, and managed services. We are committed to delivering seamless and integrated solutions for data centre operators worldwide. Our Team is dedicated to maintaining high standards of service and excellence in every project we undertake.

We are seeking a Project Engineer to join our Team. This role will oversee the engineering execution and site coordination of structured cabling infrastructure for hyperscale and enterprise data centre projects across the APAC region. This role bridges engineering design and field implementation, ensuring quality, schedule, and cost targets are met—while promoting the use of AI-enabled construction platforms to optimise design validation, material tracking, and installation workflows.

 Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end project engineering activities, including review of IFC drawings, site coordination, and as-built documentation.
  • Provide technical guidance on copper/fiber cabling systems, containment routing, patch panel layouts, and rack configurations.
  • Review shop drawings, cable schedules, and RFIs to ensure alignment with project requirements and industry standards (TIA/EIA, BICSI).
  • Utilise AI-based site capture tools (e.g., OpenSpace, Buildots, Disperse) for real-time installation tracking, deviation detection, and QA verification.
  • Support AI-assisted cable routing validation and digital twin modelling using BIM platforms with structured cabling plugins.
  • Apply AI analytics and dashboards to monitor productivity, forecast risks, and identify performance issues across projects.
  • Coordinate with general contractors, MEP trades, and ICT vendors to align structured cabling scope with overall project timeline and milestones.
  • Support site supervisors in managing cable pulling, termination, testing, and labelling activities in accordance with method statements.
  • Conduct site walks, inspections, and technical meetings to drive issue resolution and maintain construction quality.
  • Material & Progress Management
  • Oversee materials take-off, procurement tracking, and inventory management using digital tools.
  • Ensure timely submission and approval of documentation, including test reports, handover packages, and redlines.
  • Update project trackers and contribute to client reports on engineering and site progress.
  • Represent the business, upholding our core values and behaviours with all internal and external customers, clients and third parties,
  • Maintain business and client confidentiality, adhering to applicable Data Protection regulations and Information Security Standards in line with company and group policies and procedures.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or related field.
  • Preferred certifications:
    • BICSI RCDD or Technician Certification
    • PMP or equivalent project coordination training
    • Training in AI/digital tools for construction (e.g., OpenSpace, Autodesk AI, Disperse)
  • 3–6 years of experience in structured cabling system implementation, preferably in data centre or mission-critical environments.
  • Strong understanding of TIA, ISO/IEC cabling standards, and hands-on knowledge of fiber optics, copper systems, and cable testing procedures.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD; familiarity with Revit, BIM 360, and construction analytics platforms is a plus.
  • Experience or interest in AI tools for construction monitoring, routing optimisation, or material forecasting.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder coordination skills.
  • Willingness to travel regionally within APAC.
