We are seeking an Apprentice Quantity Surveyor to join our team. You will support data centre construction and operations. This entry-level role is ideal for individuals looking to build a career in cost and commercial management within a high-tech, fast-paced environment. You will work under the guidance of senior quantity surveyors and commercial managers to assist in delivering cost-effective, efficient project outcomes. You need to be able to commute to Cuffley (Hertfordshire) daily for work.
Core Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation of cost estimates, budgets, and tender documents.
- Support the measurement and valuation of works in progress on-site.
- Help monitor project costs and prepare regular financial reports.
- Assist in the assessment and certification of subcontractor payments.
- Support procurement processes, including supplier engagement and contract administration.
- Maintain accurate records of project costs and variations.
- Collaborate with project teams to ensure commercial objectives are met.
- Participate in site visits and meetings to gain practical experience.
- Represent the business, upholding our core values and behaviours with all internal and external customers, clients and third parties.
- Maintain business and client confidentiality, adhering to applicable Data Protection regulations and Information Security Standards in line with company and group policies and procedures.
Qualifications: Skills and Experience
- Strong numerical and analytical skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Attention to detail and a proactive approach to learning.
- Basic understanding of construction processes and terminology.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Office applications.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Currently enrolled in or recently completed a relevant qualification (e.g., BSc in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or similar).
- Willingness to enrol in a relevant qualification (e.g., BSc in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or similar) on a part-time course)
- Willingness to work towards professional accreditation (e.g., RICS or CIOB).
- Previous internship or work experience in construction or commercial support (desirable but not essential).
