Sprayer – Paint Line

Location: Buntingford, Hertfordshire

Job Purpose

The Paint Line Sprayer is responsible for operating the powder-coating equipment and ensuring that all products are coated to the highest quality standards. This role involves preparing materials, spraying components, monitoring the automated paint line, and maintaining a safe, clean, and efficient working environment. The sprayer plays a key part in meeting production targets and delivering consistent, high‑quality finishes.

Duties & Responsibilities

Health, Safety & Compliance:

  • Follow all health and safety procedures, including correct use of PPE and safe handling of materials.
  • Keep the work area clean, tidy, and free from hazards.
  • Complete equipment checks and report any faults or maintenance needs.
  • Adhere to company policies, safety guidelines, and housekeeping standards.

Paint Line Operation:

  • Operate powder coating spray equipment, including Gema systems, to apply coatings to products.
  • Prepare parts for coating, including cleaning, masking, and hanging components on the line.
  • Monitor the automated paint line to ensure smooth and continuous operation.
  • Adjust spray settings and equipment as needed to achieve correct coverage and finish.
  • Carry out colour changes, gun cleaning, and booth maintenance in line with procedures.

Production Support:

  • Work closely with team members to meet daily production targets.
  • Assist with loading/unloading the line and general operative tasks when required.
  • Communicate any issues affecting production flow to the team leader or supervisor.
  • Support efficient use of materials and contribute to the cost‑effective operation of the paint line.
  • Act as the primary point of contact between the Paint Line team and Production Management.

Quality Control:

  • Inspect coated products to ensure they meet company quality standards and specifications.
  • Identify defects such as poor coverage, contamination, or incorrect finish, and take corrective action.
  • Maintain accurate records of production output and coating usage.
  • Support quality‑control programmes and contribute to continuous improvement.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Experience working on a powder coating line, including hands‑on spraying.
  • Knowledge of Gema equipment and powder coating processes (preferred).
  • Manual Handling and Health & Safety awareness.
  • Ability to read and understand basic work instructions and quality standards.
  • Good attention to detail and commitment to producing high‑quality work.
  • Experience using workshop tools or working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to new production methods.

Working Hours

This is a permanent late-shift role, working 1:00 pm – 10:00 pm, 40 hours per week. Overtime opportunities are available beyond the standard 40 hours. The late shift also includes a premium, equivalent to an additional bonus hour.
