Job Purpose

We are seeking a Projects Director to join our team. This role is the owner of customer accounts, providing a single point of contact for the project life cycle, opportunities, delivery, compliance, and customer escalations. Control the overall design and operational delivery of projects, considering the safety, technical, commercial, and managerial requirements, from bid and pre-commencement through to successful practical completion, and ensure profitability is maintained or improved through effective leadership, high-quality customer relations, and management of relevant support functions allocated to the project.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Demonstrate strong Health and Safety leadership and compliance throughout all activities relating to the project on which you are working.
- Senior representative managing key customer accounts, ensuring service levels are maintained whilst team structure and budgets are managed within the constraints of the accounts.
- Establish and maintain customer teams to deliver the service needed to maximise account growth and profitability.
- Senior Management responsibilities associated with Human Resources (HR) processes and people management
- Ensure all projects are delivered in adherence with all ISO requirements and business systems.
- Working with the senior team provides ownership of client relations and participation in bid activities supporting sales and the bid proposal team.
- To ensure that professional, profitable, and successful bids are delivered that meet customer expectations.
- Manage pre-commencement activities in line with the business project delivery process. To maximise opportunities, efficiency, and profitability in the delivery phase of the project
- Supply chain engagement, maintaining relations and understanding escalation structure and processes to overcome barriers to resolve disputes or issues.
- Proactively engage with the commercial team, ensuring Sub-contractor contracts and performance are implemented. Management/contracts management across the full operations.
- Responsible for proactively engaging with the commercial team to identify and manage project risks, opportunities and CVR reports.
- Lead the teams to effectively manage the appointed specialist Sub-Contractors and ensure the work is being carried out safely, to the specification and programme. Develop effective, sustainable relationships with key subcontractor organisations.
- Provide leadership for project management delivery teams within the area of control by clearly defining objectives, responsibilities, and accountabilities, and managing performance accordingly. Offer guidance and feedback to maximise team performance.
- Provision / Manage teams to provide Customer Progress / general Reporting in a timely andregulary manner, using correct reporting management tools and templates. Ensure the level of information provided is sufficient to manage expectations and to consider the sensitivity of the business to end-to-end client relations to avoid any detrimental effects.
- Accountable for the provision of internal business reports and contract reviews to the senior management team. Ensure the accuracy and integrity of costs, values and programme forecasts; seek opportunities to suggest actions that mitigate risk and maximise profitability.
- Manages and supports effective use of company email in terms of structure, format, storage, and retrieval.
- Represent the business, attend events to promote its well-being, and engage with customers.
- Initiates contact with customers to assess future needs, provide recommendations to the business to adapt services and systems accordingly.
- Operates as a subject matter expert in relevant areas of expertise and/or sectors DPI operates within.
- Prepares for and conducts employee performance reviews with direct reports in accordance with the company process.
- Maintains/develops skills and team performance to deliver required outcomes. Identifies potential within the team and provides mentoring/coaching to team members to support development plans and career progression.
- Represent the business, upholding our core values and behaviours with all internal and external customers, clients and third parties.
- Maintain business and client confidentiality, adhering to applicable Data Protection regulations and Information Security Standards in line with company and group policies and procedures.
Essential Skills and Experience
- PMP certified or equivalent, along with a minimum of 5 years of proven experience in a similar role.
- Demonstrate deep expertise in electrical and mechanical systems to oversee complex infrastructure installations, ensuring compliance with international standards and project specifications.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimise the design and execution of electrical and mechanical components, enhancing overall project efficiency and reliability.
- Demonstrable experience within the data centre industry, ideally within both white and grey space and connectivity biased.
- Degree in Engineering, Business Studies or a related field preferred.
- Strong commercial acumen and understanding of business financial principles, including profit and loss and costings.
- Proven Leadership capability and people management skills.
- Mentor and guide engineering teams, fostering technical excellence and knowledge sharing across disciplines.
- Strong stakeholder management and the ability to build and maintain excellent client/customer relations.
- Excellent time management and ability to work under pressure, managing and driving schedules.
- Sector and industry knowledge withinthe Data Centre and associated services environment.
- Solid understanding of Health and Safety regulations with demonstrable experience implementing policies and procedures, ideally certified in this field.
- Must hold and maintain the necessary accreditations and certifications relevant to the level of this role, sector and industry.
- Contributes to the development of the DPI strategy and systems—implements, monitors and reviews performance against the DPI strategy and policy.
- Lead the monitoring programme to enable team members to progress.
- IT skills in Word, Excel, Projects and PowerPoint presentations.
- Flexibility to travel as required by the business.
