Mechanical Construction Manager

Location: Norway

Job Purpose

We are seeking a Construction Manager to join our team to be responsible for overseeing and managing the construction activities across data centre projects within Norway. This role ensures that all construction projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and safety.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage and supervise construction activities across multiple data centre sites within Norway.
  • Coordinate with internal teams, contractors, and vendors to ensure project milestones are met.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Monitor project budgets and schedules, providing regular updates to senior management.
  • Conduct site inspections and quality assurance checks.
  • Resolve construction-related issues and escalate when necessary.
  • Support procurement and logistics planning for construction materials and equipment.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and reporting for all construction activities.
  • Represent the business, upholding our core values and behaviours with all internal and external customers, clients and third parties.
  • Maintain business and client confidentiality, adhering to applicable Data Protection regulations and Information Security Standards in line with company and group policies and procedures.

Essential Skills and Experience 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Professional certification (e.g., PMP, RICS, CIOB) is an advantage.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in construction management, preferably in data centre or critical infrastructure projects.
  • Managing subcontractors, permits, risk mitigation, resource allocation and site logistics.
  • Deep MEP technical expertise in mechanical systems, HVAC, chilled water, pumps, piping, CRAH/CRAC units and mechanical plan installations.
  • Expertise in MEP co-ordination, integrating mechanical systems seamlessly with electrical and plumbing infrastructure.
  • Commissioning and testing mechanical installations, often in mission-critical environments like data centres.
  • Strong leadership and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficiency in construction management software and tools.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously across different countries.

Norway Specific & Project Specific Enhancements

  • Rotation & Travel: Rotation schedules may apply.
  • Accommodation & Visa support provided for eligible candidates.
  • Fluency in English required, Norwegian language skills are a plus
  • Understanding of the Working Environment Act (Arbeidsmiljølove).
  • Familiarity with Builder Regulations, including requirements for written HSE plans, coordination and notifications (Byggherreforskriften).
  • Hold a valid HSE card.
  • Experience working in multicultural teams and adapting to local work cultures.
