Job Purpose
We are a high-growth business established in America, APAC and Europe with over 20 subsidiaries. As our operations continue to expand and grow, there is an opportunity within our Global Finance Team as an Assistant Accountant, based in our Buntingford Head Office. As a meticulous and proactive individual, you will assist with the accounting functions for the parent company and its subsidiaries. The successful candidate will aid the finance department in managing daily accounting activities, ensuring precision and efficiency in all financial transactions. This includes supporting the monthly closings for the Group, which involves preparing accounts, posting and reconciling bank statements weekly, analysing and posting stock monthly, performing intercompany reconciliations, and other account reconciliations.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Prepare the accounts for the quarterly and monthly closings for the Group’s small/dormant subsidiaries.
- Assist in closing the accounts for the parent company and major subsidiaries by supporting various financial tasks, including:
- Analysing, posting and reconciling the stock and resolving discrepancies for the 2 manufacturing locations (UK and UAE).
- Post and reconcile expenses, resolving discrepancies, supporting the implementation and development of new systems and efficiencies.
- Posting and reconciling credit cards and resolving, supporting the implementation and development of new systems and efficiencies.
- Posting and reconciling bank statements and resolving discrepancies every week.
- Complete intercompany reconciliation, ensuring accurate recording of intercompany financial transactions, identifying and resolving discrepancies, to maintaining financial transparency across all entities.
- Managing Exchange rates in Business Central, recording financial transactions accurately in the correct currency values, updating exchange rates regularly, reconciling accounts to reflect current rates, and resolving any discrepancies from currency conversions.
- Assist the accounting team during audits and tax filings, providing necessary documentation and information.
- Support the quarterly and month end closings for the Group in the absence of the Finance Manager/Group Accountant.
- Assist in maintaining accurate financial records, performing data entry and ensuring the accuracy of financial information.
- Support the Accounting team with any ad-hoc tasks and administration duties as required.
Essential skills and knowledge
- Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience as an Accounting Assistant/Bookkeeper.
- Good knowledge of accounting principles.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and ideally Microsoft Dynamics (Business Central) & Continia
- Analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
